From School Library Journal Grade 3-6 Considering that trying to pick the best or the worst teams from professional baseball's long history is no small task, Aaseng's books are quite commendable. He established a criteria for selecting the teams: rather than judging solely by records, he also gave consideration to other extraneous circumstances, such as strength of competition. Eight teams from various years are ranked and featured in each book; each has an accompanying page of statistics that includes overall record, league standings, and key player's performances. Black-and-white photographs, some from the early days of professional baseball, are liberally interspersed within the text. A number of little known teams are featured along with some interesting anecdotes relating to both on- and off-field activities. While the writing style is quite ordinary, and each book does contain its share of standard sports cliches, these titles are a welcome relief from the idolatrous sports biographies that flood the juvenile market and are of interest for only a short period of time.
