Of the ten cases summarized here, the three which comprise more than half the book--the JFK assassination, the murder of Jimmy Hoffa, and the death of Marilyn Monroe--arguably could be considered solved. Few of the remaining cases--Harry Oakes, Serge Rubinstein, Claus Von Bulow, T. Cullen Davis, John Hill, Helen Brach, and Lord Lucan--are as puzzling as, for example, the cases of the Zodiac or Green River killers. Except for the Brach disappearance, these stories have been told more thoroughly and better elsewhere. Although Wilson mentions consulting 50 books, there is no bibliography. Considering the popularity of such TV shows as Unsolved Mysteries , however, this book will have some appeal.- Gregor A. Preston, Univ. of California Lib., Davis
